‘Experience the allure of silent awkward stares and indulge in even more’
Twitch’s AI-generated Nothing Forever stream caused a massive sensation when it launched back in February. However, the stream quickly faced controversy when its Seinfeld-like protagonist began spewing hateful anti-trans rhetoric, leading to a ban on the platform. Now, the stream has made a comeback, but it is plagued by serious bugs that could potentially end the entire enterprise.
On October 27, viewers started noticing that the characters in the stream had stopped talking and instead remained in absolute silence for hours on end. This strange phenomenon was reported by Kotaku. Additionally, a strange orange man appeared, silently patrolling the apartment. The glitches continued on October 30 when a video shared by Jason Koebler showed the primary characters repeatedly walking into each other. This bizarre behavior has persisted for several days.
The characters in the AI Seinfeld stream have been continuously walking into a refrigerator in a repetitive loop for at least five days. The creators of the stream, Mismatch Media, have been unresponsive to inquiries about these numerous and sometimes hilarious errors. After the incident involving anti-trans rhetoric, the stream underwent significant changes, including swapping some characters and abandoning stand-up routines. Mismatch also implemented additional content moderation systems as a precaution.
Despite being primarily AI-driven, the stream still requires maintenance, and it seems that the creators may not be keeping up with it. The stream has been running non-stop since December, but there are doubts about how long the “forever” part of Nothing Forever will truly last. Interestingly, the stream’s viewership has increased, with hundreds of concurrent watchers, surpassing the numbers from last month when it returned from its hate speech controversy.
