‘Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, announces the initiation of polls feature testing, with plans to roll it out universally in the near future.’
Instagram Rolls Out Polls Feature in Comments
Instagram is expanding its interactive features by allowing some users to create polls in the comments section of their posts. This new feature provides creators with another opportunity to engage their audience and gather feedback. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, announced the test of this feature on his broadcast channel. He mentioned that polls can be added to both regular feed posts and Reels. Although this feature is currently being tested on a small scale, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that it will be “rolling out to everyone soon.”
The polls in the comments section will have a similar appearance to the polls in Instagram Stories, where they have been available for years in the form of stickers. According to a screenshot shared by Mosseri, other users will be able to view the number of votes on a particular poll. Currently, it is unclear how long the polls will be open after being posted, or if users will have the option to choose different time frames to continue receiving votes, similar to Twitter’s polling feature.
Instagram has been actively working on enhancing its comment section to create a more interactive space. Earlier this year, the platform introduced the ability for users to post GIFs in the comments, which was well-received by the community. Additionally, Instagram is currently testing new options for a personalized Stories experience. This feature builds upon the Close Friends feature and allows users to create multiple lists, enabling them to share specific content with select groups of people.
