Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, has reached an agreement with AMC to bring several of the network’s shows to its platform for a limited time. Starting from September 1st until October 31st, Max subscribers will have access to over 200 episodes from AMC’s recent programming, including popular titles like Fear the Walking Dead, Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire, and Killing Eve. This partnership aims to provide additional content for Max users and boost AMC’s struggling streaming service, AMC+.

According to reports from CNBC and Variety, AMC will expand its offering on Max beyond the initial lineup, making more of its shows available to subscribers. While AMC has its own streaming service, AMC+, the network has faced challenges in monetizing it and competing with other streaming providers. AMC Chairman James Dolan acknowledged the difficulties, stating in a memo to staff members last year that they had anticipated cord-cutting losses would be offset by gains in streaming, which has not been the case.

On the Max app, AMC’s programs will be clearly marked and listed under a tab labeled “AMC+ Picks on Max.” These shows will be accessible to both ad-free and ad-supported Max subscribers, although the AMC+ titles will reportedly not include commercials and ads. HBO Executive Vice President Meredith Gertler praised the collaboration, stating that the inclusion of the AMC+ collection demonstrates their ability to use innovative strategies to enhance their content offering.

Although the specific titles have not been announced yet, it has been confirmed that Max will not feature AMC’s biggest shows, such as Mad Men and The Walking Dead. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, which also won’t be available on Max, are currently licensed to Netflix.
