‘Enhanced application enables users to effortlessly manage and access camera feeds’
During its annual developer conference, Google announced that users can now transition their first-generation Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor devices from the old Nest app to its new Home application. The company has recently started rolling out the ability to manage the indoor camera model through the public preview version of the Home app, with the rollout expected to be completed in a few weeks.
Previously, Nest cameras had their own application before Google acquired the company. Over time, Google integrated support for all its smart home products into the Home app. However, users of the oldest Nest cameras had to continue using the original application to manage their devices. With this update, users on public preview can now access their first-gen Nest Cam Indoor device through the Home app and enjoy an enhanced camera history experience. Additionally, they can add the camera to their Favorites tab, enabling its feed to appear as soon as they open the app.
Google initially stated that the transfer process to add old Nest cam models to the Home app would take approximately 10 minutes. Once completed, users will no longer need the old application to view the camera’s data and footage, providing a unified app experience for many users.
