‘We are eager to incorporate numerous innovative ideas into the game.’
Hyper Light Breaker, the highly anticipated action rogue-lite game, has experienced yet another delay in its release. Originally scheduled to enter Steam Early Access this fall, the launch window for the game has now been rescheduled for early 2024. The game serves as the spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed 2016 title, Hyper Light Drifter.
Alx Preston, the founder and Creative Director for developer Heart Machine, announced the delay in a video, expressing the need for additional time to ensure that Hyper Light Breaker reaches its full potential. Preston expressed his gratitude towards the fans for their patience and support, promising them a new adventure that meets their expectations of a Heart Machine title.
One of the notable changes in Hyper Light Breaker is the shift from 2D to 3D gameplay, accompanied by the addition of cooperative play for up to three players. While the original Hyper Light Drifter drew inspiration from classic top-down Zelda games, the upcoming installment incorporates elements from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Players can expect to explore open countrysides filled with ruins, utilize a glider for aerial traversal, and even surf down hills. The game also features procedurally generated environments, enhancing its replayability factor. Notably, the combat mechanics in Hyper Light Breaker differ from those seen in modern Zelda games.
Preston expressed excitement over the game’s potential, stating that the team has numerous innovative ideas they wish to incorporate. The delay will provide them with the necessary time to ensure a strong start to the game’s open development in early access next year.
