‘Introducing exciting additions: a brand-new game mode, unique characters, and exclusive items.’
Indie hits Cult of the Lamb and Don’t Starve Together, both highly acclaimed, have joined forces to bring gamers a new game mode, exclusive in-game items, and character cameos. The collaborative effort impacts both games, offering unique benefits to each.
The highlight of this collaboration is the introduction of a brand-new game mode called Penitence Mode in Cult of the Lamb, drawing inspiration from Don’t Starve Together. In this mode, players experience heightened stress as their lamb protagonist must attend to mortal needs, such as eating and finding shelter, while also caring for their cult. Similar to the critically-acclaimed traditional game, players have the choice to consume meat and vegetables or resort to Yellowjackets-style cannibalism.
Furthermore, the games now offer shared items that allow for a distinct aesthetic. Players can unlock decorations in Cult of the Lamb from Don’t Starve, such as pig heads on sticks, and vice-versa. Expect new chest skins, tabernacle decorations, and more.
In addition, characters from Don’t Starve are making their way through a “crossover portal.” Webber, known from Don’t Starve’s Reign of Giants DLC, is now an unlockable cult member in Cult of the Lamb. Webber comes with a new “never hungry” trait, allowing players to save food for those in need. Moreover, Don’t Starve’s lamb-like ewelet critter/pets will receive clothing and design options inspired by the other game, further enhancing their lamb-like appearance.
The update is currently available for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The developers have also announced that a major content update will soon be released for Cult of the Lamb, while Don’t Starve Together will continue to receive ongoing content updates as part of its From Beyond story arc.
