‘Connecting the DualSense Edge to your original PlayStation is now a breeze!’
8BitDo, a popular gaming accessories manufacturer, has introduced a new version of its Retro Receiver. The Retro Receiver is a dongle that enables gamers to connect modern controllers to older gaming consoles. Previously, the Retro Receiver supported the NES Classic Edition, SNES Classic, and Sega Genesis Mini. However, the latest version now also includes support for newer controllers such as the Switch Pro Controller, Xbox Elite Series 2, and the DualSense Edge from PlayStation.
The Retro Receiver, priced at $25, offers lag-free gaming and supports controller vibration functions. It can be connected to controllers using either Bluetooth or a wired connection. In addition to compatibility with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo’s peripherals, the Retro Receiver is also compatible with a range of 8BitDo’s own controllers.
Supported controllers include the DualShock 4, DualSense, and DualSense Edge from PlayStation, Xbox One, Series, Elite Series 2, Elite Series 2 – Core, and Adaptive Controller from Xbox, as well as Wii U Pro and Switch Pro Controllers. 8BitDo’s own controllers such as the Ultimate Bluetooth, Pro 2, SN30 Pro+, SN30 Pro, SN30 Pro for Android, Lite 2, Lite SE, and Lite Controllers, Arcade Stick v3, and PS1 Modkit and PS1 Classic Modkit are also compatible.
Previously, 8BitDo had a solution for connecting controllers to a PlayStation 3 using their Retro Receiver. However, the new version now offers a plug-and-play option for connecting controllers to the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2, which is a welcome move for gamers who prefer original hardware. Notably, the Retro Receiver also includes support for the Xbox Adaptive Controller, enabling more accessibility options for playing classic PS1 and PS2 games.
The 8BitDo Retro Receiver for PS1, PS2, and Windows is available for purchase on Amazon.
