‘Perhaps an arm wrestling match would suffice.’
Disappointing news for fans eagerly anticipating the showdown between tech titans Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. According to an exclusive audio obtained by Reuters, it appears that the highly anticipated cage match between the two billionaires may not happen after all. During a company town hall, Zuckerberg expressed uncertainty about the fight, stating that he’s unsure if it will come together.
Zuckerberg’s remarks about the match were made during a discussion about Meta’s recently launched Twitter rival, Threads, which has faced some challenges since its introduction.
It is important to note that Zuckerberg did not explicitly say that the match is canceled, but rather expressed skepticism about its likelihood. So, fans of the potential clash can still hold out hope. Musk, known for his affinity for the letter “X” and unconventional ideas, has yet to respond to Zuckerberg’s comments. However, given Zuckerberg’s recent interest in jiu-jitsu, Musk may actually feel relieved.
The proposed cage fight was intended to be a glamorous event held in Las Vegas. The two billionaires have been discussing the details of the fight, such as the date and venue, for the past month. From the beginning, Zuckerberg appeared serious about the fight, and Musk eventually agreed, tweeting that he was “up for a cage match” if Zuckerberg was. Musk even mentioned a move called “the walrus,” where he would lay on top of his opponent and do nothing.
Zuckerberg seemed prepared for the challenge, with MMA legend Alex Volkanovski confirming that the tech CEO was serious about the fight. While Musk treated the whole thing as a joke, he did accept a training offer from UFC champion Georges St-Pierre and sparred with podcaster Lex Fridman. However, Musk has been occupied with controversial activities such as sharing anti-trans content on Twitter and changing the site’s rules to allow intentional misgendering.
Dana White, president of the UFC, expressed the organization’s readiness to assist with the event. As of now, the fate of the Zuckerberg vs Musk cage match remains uncertain.
