‘Leo, the AI assistant, is set to arrive on Android and iOS in the upcoming months.’

Brave, the open source browser developer, has introduced its AI assistant Leo to its desktop users, joining the growing list of browsers with built-in generative AI assistants. Leo, based on the Llama 2 large language model developed by Microsoft and Meta, allows users to perform various tasks such as creating summaries of web pages and videos, translating and rewriting pages, and generating new content. While the Llama 2-powered Leo is available for free, Brave has also introduced a paid version called Leo Premium. This version, powered by Anthropics’ Claude Instant, offers longer and more detailed responses for $15 per month. Brave Software emphasized that Leo prioritizes user privacy, as conversations with the assistant are not stored on its servers and the responses are immediately discarded and not used for model training. Furthermore, Brave does not collect IP addresses or retain personal data that can identify users, and no account creation is required to use Leo.
