“Identity Surprise: It’s a-me! No, wait, it’s a-different me!”
After the announcement that Charles Martinet will no longer voice Mario, Nintendo has revealed the identity of the actor who will take on the iconic role. Kevin Afghani has been chosen as the new voice of Mario and Luigi in Nintendo’s games. Afghani, previously known for his role as Arnold in Genshin Impact, expressed his pride in voicing the beloved characters in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Nintendo confirmed this news to Polygon.
Fans were quick to notice the change in Mario’s voice when the first trailer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder was released earlier this summer. They also noticed a difference in Wario’s voice in a clip from WarioWare: Move It! The actor for Wario’s role in the game has not been confirmed yet.
Charles Martinet, who has been the voice of Mario for over two decades, will continue to work with Nintendo as a “Mario Ambassador.” This role will allow him to share the joy of Mario with fans around the world.
