‘It remains at least a year in the future.’

In a move that could bring more significant changes to the Apple Watch, the company is said to be working on an upgraded model for its tenth anniversary. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Apple Watch X is expected to feature several notable improvements.

One of the upgrades expected in the Apple Watch X is a magnetic band attachment, replacing the current slide-in design. This change would allow for a larger battery, addressing one of the common complaints about the device’s battery life. Additionally, the Apple Watch X is rumored to have a thinner watch case and a microLED display, which would provide a better picture compared to the current OLED screens.

On the health front, the Apple Watch X is reported to include a blood pressure sensor in addition to the existing heart rate monitor, sleep tracking, and blood oxygen detection capabilities found in current models. This expansion of health monitoring features could further solidify the Apple Watch’s position as a leading wearable device in the market.

However, consumers may have to wait a while before getting their hands on the Apple Watch X. If Apple follows its annual release schedule, the updated model may not hit the market for another year. Alternatively, Apple could choose to wait a whole decade after the first release of the Apple Watch, which would mean a two-year wait for the Apple Watch X.

Before the Apple Watch X arrives, Apple is expected to unveil the Apple Watch Series 9 at an event in September. The Series 9 will reportedly come with a faster processor, marking the first significant performance upgrade since the Series 6. While the Series 9 is expected to maintain the same size as the Series 8 across its models, it is anticipated to be a limited upgrade overall.
